New American Patriots is a study of the American women who supported the efforts of World War II. In particular, I will be focusing on those women involved in the manufacturing of military materials. It is my belief that they are an under-represented part of the war effort and my show is a small part in attempting to correct this aspect of American history. Through the combination of image and colors in my work, I aim to celebrate the role of women in the war effort. While the classic image of Rosie the Riveter is an apt analog, the goal of my study is to showcase a much broader representation of the war effort.”
“I used a wide color palette to bring the works to life, with a heavy focus on neon-inspired, complementary colors. The goal of my color selections is to contemporize images that may have previously only existed in the form of black and white photos.”
