Let's Draw! with John Gummere Schedule and Registration
Artworks’ Teaching Artist John Gummere will lead a series of classes on basic drawing for students at all levels, beginner through advanced. Beginners will benefit from methodical instruction on basics, and more advanced students can work more independently with instruction as needed.
Saturdays, 11 am to 1 pm.
*Location is Artworks except as noted*
Schedule and Registration:
Jan. 20 & 27 — Life Drawing
Classes will work with nude models, and begin with very short, quick sketches and work toward longer poses and more developed drawings with lights and shadows.

Feb. 3 & 10 — Still life and drawing from sculptural casts
Students may draw (or paint) still life setups of basic objects such as bottles, books, vases, and drapery, with an emphasis on developing basic rendering skills, perspective, and composition; or draw a sculptural subject as an exercise in observing proportions as well as lights and shadows.

Feb. 17 & 24 — Animal drawing
Location: New Jersey State Museum
205 W State St, Trenton, NJ 08608
We will meet at the New Jersey State Museum. The Museum’s natural science exhibits feature dinosaur and other skeletal remains as well as taxidermy specimens of bears, wildcats, and other animals. These sessions will emphasize the same skills as life drawing and still life. Depending on students’ level of skill and experience, they may choose to develop their drawings with a range of lights and shadows.

March 2 & 9 — Interior composition and perspective
Location: Trenton Free Public Library
We will meet at the Trenton Free Public Library or another nearby location to be determined. Emphasis on basic drawing skill, perspective, and composition.
