COMMON THREADS 7 – SANCTUARY

curated by C.a. Shofed in conjunction with BSB Gallery

January 24 – February 23

Opening Reception: January 26, 7-9pm

C.a. Shofed’s Common Threads was established in 2013, to showcase the work of Trenton area artists and artists influenced and inspired by the Trenton art scene.  It was forged to empower these artists to build bridges beyond Trenton’s borders and to foster economic development and prosperity.

“We are pleased to announce that we have partnered with Artworks Trenton for this very last rendition of Common Threads.  Each of our artists will also be featured in the ArtLab of Artworks in tandem with our exhibit at BSB Gallery.”, said BSB Curator, C.a. Shofed.

Common Threads 7:  Sanctuary tells a story of American artists, who were not born in America, but instead chose to become American citizens.  Common Threads 7 is a celebration of the rich tapestry of immigration and the American story.

Curator Margaretta Frederick put it perfectly in her 2016 article titled “Art in America is a Story of Immigration, Cultural Exchange”.  The only true American art form is jazz. Visual art, such as photography, sculpture, architecture, and painting have all been influenced by foreign countries or immigrant populations yearning to breathe free.
