Batik Fabric Dyeing

December 8, 12-5pm

Batik is a “resist” process for making designs on fabric. The artist uses wax to prevent dye from penetrating the cloth, leaving “blank” areas in the dyed fabric. Students will create a Batik wall hanging or scarf using traditional batik hand dipping methods.

Techniqes:

  • Wax resist techniques such as dipping and hand painting
  • Dip dyeing
  • Hand painting small details
  • wax removal and batik aftercare

 

No experience is necessary. All materials are provided. Registration is limited, so sign up early!
