If you missed the opening reception, and would like to meet Artist Raphael Ogoe, he will be discussing his exhibition, “When Titans Return”, on February 29th, from 12pm – 4pm.
This exhibition unites art, design and architectural practice to explore African history, culture, gender, masculinity, folktale, and discovery. Through the powerful use of composition and references to mythology and oral folktale, the exhibition not only trace history but retrofits past events for an epic retelling and reimagining of some key moments in history. The exhibition highlights some historical figures and illustrates how black women have had a long history of being in charge and playing important social roles in the defense of Africa.
The works draw on many inspirational stories from folktales, myths, and legends; documenting the many heroes whose presence and actions are left uncelebrated.
