Raven george
Exhibition Dates: 10/24/23 – 11/18/23
Reception: November 3, 2023 6 – 8 pm
The subjects of Georges’ work are to inspire those to come back home to their inner selves, the innocence of when things were pure, explorative, and bred with joy.
Creating her sense of freedom from being a child and how that youthful experience is usually short-lived, forced to grow up. George enjoys exploring the relationship between movement, light, and emotional intimacy. She is inspired by books, music, writing, films, nature, dance, light, color, smells, and life with the chosen mediums oil pastel, graphite, and acrylic ink.
George has been making art since she was two years old and has a BA from Montclair State University. After college, she’s shown in the Philadelphia Art Collective Gallery, Artworks Art All Day, and curated a solo exhibition Summer of ‘22.
To find Love and Death illustrates how death is essential for reconnecting love within ourselves and how that love reflects to the world.
George removes fixed subjectivity highlighting the freedom of being expressively connected with our bodies. Exploring how that may translate through youth, passion, spirit, grief, and healing.
