Mural Design Unveiled!

Mural Design Unveiled!

Trenton Mural Arts Project unveiled the mural design tonight. As muralist Phillip Adams, explained, the theme that emerged from the community Conversations was PAST  PRESENT  FUTURE.

More photos and videos from tonight’s March 28 unveiling will be posted.

Below are renderings of the mural. Come out and paint with us April 16 on Community Paint Day!

This photo shows most of the mural (furthest left portions missing). Detail photos below

PAST: An historic panoramic photo will be rendered in charcoal across these cinderblocked “windows” on the leftmost building of the Home Rubber factory directly behind the Cass Street RiverLine stop.

PRESENT: Will be painted on the Home Rubber factory’s boiler room at the center of the mural, directly to the right of the historic Home Rubber Company sign painted on the original building’s brick walls. This image is a photo of machinery inside the Home Rubber factory, a business in operation for 13o years. Through the red metal door is an image of the Trenton Makes Bridge over the Delaware. The industrial image will blend with the actual conduit on the building and transformer directly in front.

FUTURE: The final section of the mural and the largest will be on the Home Rubber factory’s “light work room” running the entire length of the RiverLine walking platform. The image of water represents the future, which is full of uncertainty and promise. Water also recalls the canal that one ran where Route 129 is now, and the Delaware River upon which Trenton is founded. The pylon of the Trenton Makes bridge is incorporated into the painting so that it melds with the actual brick tower at the end of the light work room.
