Lynn Lemyre Named New Executive Director of Artworks

Artworks, Trenton’s downtown visual arts center and sponsor of Art All Night, has announced the selection of veteran arts administrator Lynn Lemyre to be its new Executive Director.  Lemyre, a resident of Mount Holly, previously directed Burlington County’s visual arts gallery and programming and is a former Executive Director of Main Street Mount Holly.

“It has been a dream of mine to oversee a dynamic community arts center like Artworks,” said Ms. Lemyre. “I am a firm believer in the power of the arts to improve and enrich the lives of all members of the community, and I look forward to continuing Artworks’ long tradition of providing creative and accessible programming to the Trenton community, and partnering with other organizations to the benefit of the city and the region,” she said.

“We had so many qualified applicants for the job but Lynn was the clear choice with her breadth of experience in the New Jersey visual arts and non-profit world. We feel privileged to have her, and know she will take Artworks to the next level,” said Lauren Otis, Chairman of the Artworks Board of Trustees. Among other accomplishments, Ms. Lemyre helped found Mount Holly’s mural arts program and ran Burlington County’s Arts in the Park, an annual arts festival which drew 10,000 attendees. She is also an accomplished and widely exhibited painter.

“This is an exciting time at Artworks, and for the arts in general in Trenton,” said Mr. Otis. “Lynn has joined us at a great time. The Artworks headquarters building in downtown Trenton is poised to undergo a full facilities upgrade this summer thanks to a great joint effort with the City of Trenton, and we have just launched a fully redesigned web site,” said Mr. Otis. “Our fifth annual Art All Night extravaganza is just around the corner, taking place June 18 and 19, education programming has been revitalized, and we continue to participate with other local organizations in a range of wonderful partnerships such as for the Trenton Mural Arts Project,” he said.

“I love Artworks’ space, and what the organization has accomplished so far,” said Ms. Lemyre. “I’m looking forward to being a part of it all, and I can’t wait for Art All Night!” she said.
